Version Info this help item shows Joomla v1.5 but is almost identical in v1.0


Note: It works best to first size the image you want to add to your site on your computer before uploading it to your website. Acceptable image formats are jpg, gif and png. If you are not sure of exactly what size to make the new image, make it little larger and then use the resize feature in the Image Manager to do final sizing.

  1. With your page open in the editor, click on page where you want to add an image as illustrated below. Then click on the Insert/Edit Image button in the editor. This button is on the bottom row of buttons and is the tenth button from the left in the illustration below:

  2. Click on the Insert/Edit Image button to open the Image Manager popup window.

  3. If the image you want is already uploaded to the website, find it by clicking on the Folders list on the left. All you have to do it highlight the image when it appears in the center column. Then set its size and border, and then click the Insert button at the bottom of the Image manager popup window.
  4. If you need to upload a new image, find the replacement image on your computer by clicking on the upload button. The upload button located on the right side of the Image Manager window above the Details column.

  5. This brings up another popup window, the Upload window:

  6. Click the Add button to open yet another popup box to browse your computer to find the right image. Click on new image and then click the Open button.
  7. The new image will now be in the Queue box in the Upload window. Click the Upload button to actually upload the image to your website. You may need to close the Upload window by clicking the "X" button when done.
  8. The uploaded image should now be listed alphabetically in the Image Manager popup window. If it is not highlighted, click on it and then click the Insert button.


    Your image should show on the page. If the image size or image border is wrong, highlight the image again and click the Insert/Edit Image button again to re-open the Image Manager popup window. Now you can set the image size and border for the new image.
  9. Don't forget to click the Save button to save your page changes.
