Updating Your Events Section
| Joomla Free Help Center - Working on Site Content |
Events sections are usually setup to display all the content items in your Current Events or Upcoming Events section. Joomla will display these event content items in 2 or 3 columns, depending on how your site is setup.
Creating A New Event
- Either copy the blank event page or create a new page in the Events section.
- It is usually not necessary to create a table for each event because Joomla will do that for you.
- When you title your event, it is often useful to include the event date in the title.
- Joomla creates rows across of events, usually 2 or 3. So if the event you are creating has a lot more text than the other events in the same event row, put some of your text in the second edit box located below the first text box.
- When you do that, Joomla will automatically create a"Read More.." link at the bottom of the text for this box when it displays the events page. The visitor can click on the link to see all of the event text on its own page. Using this system creates more balanced rows of events.
Sorting Events
- After saving your new event you can sort your event list by date using the "Reorder" column arrows.
- Or you can type new numbers into the "Order" column boxes. Then click on the icon next to the word "Order" to save your sort.
Moving A Past Event
- When an event is over you can either delete it or move it to a "Past Events" category.
- The advantage of keeping a "Past Events" category is that visitors can see past events as well as upcoming events.
