On the VirtueMart menu bar, mouse over “Products” and then click on “Add Product”

• SKU: enter the item ID number (required - must be unique)
• Name: enter item name
• Categories: click on the category or sub-category you want this new item to belong to. If you need to create a new category, do that first by clicking on the VirtueMart Products > Add Category menu item
• Product Price (Net): enter price (leave blank if this is a catalog only listing with no price showing).
• Short Description: can be used for info you want to show up right below the item name
• Product Description: can be used for additional product info and can be formatted using the word processor interface

• Attribute List: can be used to enter available sizes, colors, etc. See examples on the page for how to do this.

• Length, Width & Height are best entered on the Product  Information Tab Product Description box
• Weight: If you are charging shipping based on shipment weight, enter a weight for the item

NOTE: ITS BEST TO SAVE YOUR NEW ITEM BEFORE ADDING IMAGES WHEN JUST LEARNING. IF YOU DON’T ADD THE IMAGES CORRECTLY SOMETIMES YOUR NEW ITEM WON’T BE SAVED AT ALL. SO SAVE NOW AND THEN COME BACK TO ADD THE IMAGES.

• Full Image: If your site uses “Auto-Create Thumbnail” (YOURS DOES), click the “Auto-Create Thumbnail” button. Then click the Full Image Browse button and find the image you want on your computer. It should already be sized to about 400 pixels wide or high to fit the site.
• Thumb Nail: Leave blank if using “Auto-Create Thumbnail”, otherwise use the Thumb Nail Browse button to find the thumbnail image on your computer.

• If you want to cross-sell products, click on whichever existing products are to be cross-sold with this one. These items will show up as suggestions for buyers considering this item.

• Click the big “Save” button up at the page top (under the main Joomla menu bar).
• Your done!
• To preview the new item, mouse over the main Joomla menu to Site > Preview and then preview the website to check your work.

• On the VirtueMart menu bar, mouse over “Products” and then click on “List Products”.
• You should see a list of all the items already in your cart. This will include items for sale (or display if not using cart functions), and possibly other features such as Events page info and any other “pages” that are created by VirtueMart.
• Click on the name of the item you want to update and then change whatever needs to be updated.
• Click the big “Save” button at the top of the page (under the Joomla menu bar).

Prices for dropdown items (items with multiple price choices) can be changed on the "Product Status" tab of the item in VirtueMart. If your site is an art-related site, this tab may be called "Artwork Status".

 The choices and prices offered are entered in the format shown. The examples section will explain how to do this.
