VirtueMart is a Joomla component that is used as a shopping cart and/or as a gallery for images, depending on your website.

Your website probably uses VirtueMart for displaying items for sale or items for viewing only if you don’t use the cart functions. Even though VirtueMart is a full featured cart, it also is an excellent gallery system for displaying art or images that are not for sale online. It is fairly easy to learn how to add and update your VirtueMart cart/gallery even if you are not a computer pro.

To create a VirtueMart gallery you don't actually create articles or content items at all. All you have to do is add the gallery items to VirtueMart and VirtueMart will create the necessary pages, thumbnails and links. You can choose in each gallery category whether you want to have a "buy" button or not.

So on the same website you can use VirtueMart to:

• Sell items through your website with complete checkout online.
• Sell items through your website for download.
• Display items for sale but only allow buyers to contact you for purchase.
• Display items in gallery format that are not for sale.
